1956 3011 aftermarket chassis need input
I have a 1956 3100 I am considering using TCI or other brand of chassis.
I am also considering going with a Flatout Engineering kit and add C4 Corvette front and rear suspension. Pros and cons Thanks Mike |
Re: 1956 3011 aftermarket chassis need input
Opinions will vary of course but I went with C4 IFS using the Flat Out Engineering crossmember and instead of their IRS I flipped my rearend on top of the leaf springs. I used a Ford 8.8 inch rear to get disc brakes and limited slip.
I had a new Fatman Fabrications Mustang II type IFS kit I was going to install (still do!)but the guy I used to install my suspension said he does IFS installs all the time and recommended the C4 Vette setup as it was designed for up to a big block weight and torque. I've seen plenty of guys use MII's and they seem to be happy. I'm happy with mine with the adjustable Aldan coilovers. I didn't go with IRS because I thought I might want to tow my jet ski's or possibly my boat (I won't) but at the time I thought I might. IRS would be very cool and that may still be in a future upgrade for me. I'd basically do it for the "cool" factor for my enjoyment as I have no intention of doing road racing etc but it WOULD give you full on Corvette handling. |

If your frame is in good usable shape,it will be alot easier/cheaper to go with the flatout... I've got a flatout for mine..very quality piece...brand new chassis are nice as well though...
