vortec 454 injectors

I was wondering about the $100/set ebay reman injectors vs. $439 for new from five-0? Is it worth the money for new? Engine has 230K so I don't want to invest anymore than I have to but if these remans will be a constant aggrevation that's not worth it. Any experience or specific sellers? Thanks a lot. 2000 K2500 CCSB. Thanks!

Boy, I am going to get banned for saying this... A yellow Ford MotorSport injector fits perfect, out preforms stock and is cheaper to boot.

I have a set from five-0, but they are about 6 years old and cost 200-250 at the time

Second the Five-O-Motorsports ones. Do NOT buy ebay injectors if you plan on keeping the truck for any length of time, they are garbage, been there done that. Also avoid the "OEM replacement" injectors, the fat body original style injector (rochester design) is just trash. The Bosch-style injector is a much better design and has a much lower failure rate. You can *sometimes* get away with dropping LT1 injectors (Bosch style) into a Vortec 454 without setting any codes, they are 24lb/hr vs 19lb/hr (454) of fuel delivery.

I appreciate the replies. I didn’t get any replies right away so I bought some off eBay from the most reputable source I could find. But I have not installed them. The truck has 230K on it so I didn’t know how much money I wanted to put into that motor. It will probably get a 6.0 or a cummins if the 454 goes. But I don’t want to do it twice and I have another truck with a 454 I could put them in if this motor goes south. I may see if I can send them back. Again, thanks for the feedback!

I've got almost 320k on my '96 (in signature) :D

Sorry for the late reply, I try to steer everyone I can to the Five-o injectors...I also bought the most reputable ones on ebay but they were still the old style and after a while I developed a rough idle and starting issues.

Wow so what all have you done to the 454 in that many miles ? Anything major? I’ve done intake gaskets twice on this truck and now my 98 needs them again. I’m buying felpro gaskets. Is there something I should do different?

Re: vortec 454 injectors

Not much you do about the intake gaskets. They make an updated set for the small block that doesnt have any plastic. I guess the big blocks arent popular enough for them to make an updated set. Mine usually last 60-80 thousand miles.

Truck has been in the family (now mine) since 196,### miles. Outside of LOF: intake gaskets once, fuel pump once, injectors twice, distributor, timing set, seals (timing & rear main), tune up parts are Delco, oil is Shell Rotella 10W-30 conventional (changed @ 5k mi.), filters are Delco (I change fuel on 15k mi. intervals). That's just the runability items, the rest of the maintenance items make the list quite large.
