Lettering/signs/pictures on truck

This is what i ended up doing on my truck. Saw it done on TRUCKS on SPIKE TV a few months ago. Lettered it, then dusted it good with primer and sanded on the lettered area. Gave it a nice weathered look.

There was a good article in one of the Hot Rod Mags in the last year with good technique suggestions.

Re: Lettering/signs/pictures on truck
Is there a computer design cut stencil that can be stuck to the doors, and then I could spray my color/s of choice? I would then take scotch brite pads and age it. Or do I need to hire someone to paint it for me? I have a 65 stepper that is patina and I want door art. The truck is flat red and I want flat white lettering.

Check out Hotrod 49's build thread. He did a shop logo on his patina'd paint and it turned out awesome. He's a pinstriper by trade, and very good at what he does. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=320546 |

I took the Blue Heeler to the cheese cake factory on sunday to pick up a b-day cake for my wife, as me and my buddy drove up the valet guy gave us a weird look so i pulled up behind a range rover and i ask the guy hey do you think you can park my truck without any damages? he said jes, so i told him all the damages that are on the truck were from the last time i brought it here his eyes got big:eek: so then i told him we were just her to pick up a cake, so he said go down the drive way and park by the wall and wait there for you friend i told him screw that can i park next to the bently and the benz he looked around and said go ahead i just sat in the truck busting up. when my buddy came out he said do a burn out so i said i would be happy too so we did a burn-out in the parking lot and started cracking up. just thought i would share.

Re: Lettering/signs/pictures on truck
you can look at door signs until your eyes bleed:
The **OFFICIAL** door lettering thread on the HAMB - lots and lots and lots of photos enjoy! That ayers garage is a member here... txfirefighter(might have the spelling wrong)... and the sims radiator has fixed my radiator in my '65 c10 twice now... in different spots. -W |

Re: Lettering/signs/pictures on truck
I have had an idea for a while. I have a friend that does vinyl lettering. I think you could peel out the letters to make a stencil. Another words toss the part you would normally use. Then just stick it to the door as a stencil. Then just paint it with a spray can. Now in my head it should work great...in real life not so sure.;)
