1989 Sun Visors

My '89 Silverado sun visors do not stay up and I see no way to tighten them up. Anyone have any ideas for this?

Are the visors falling due to the visor it's self, or is it the mounting bracket?

I replaced my visors.. ( They just pull/slide out, off the 10" bar that is mounted on the roof).... The visor is held by tension, as the bracket 'bar' slides into the visor.

they are falling due to looseness on the rod, how did you tighten up the visors, I tried pulling them a little way off, but it did not improve it. I included a photo of my truck color, thought you'd get a kick out of it.

Funny..... reverse color combo ..from mind....
( Looks like you have the same long-lasting clearcoat as I did)

The visors "hinge" from the rod, ( mounted on cab ceiling), into a 12" metal-formed tube inside the visor, by friction. I am not sure how to firm it up, ..other than some inventive fix.

( How many miles on that truck?)

I was thinking I could try to wrap something around the rod and push it back on. I bought the truck recently from my brother's in-law, it has a total of 86,000 miles, solid and clean

86,000 miles? ?? I'll trade ya !! :smoke:

An idea..... since your truck is so original, maybe go to a salvage yard and buy a same visor ( $2.00 ?).... slice it open and learn how to solve it without damaging your original visor.

( I noticed your dash cover ).... That was the 1st thing I bought. My dash is still in new condition after 396,000 ..
