De-chroming.

I just bought a black 2011 silverado 4 door. The mirrors and door handles are chrome but they look like they just have chrome covers on them. Do they make black covers or should I just remove the covers that are there? I'm wanting to color match everything.

I'm going to preface this as an opinion only, because I'm not entirely sure...

But, I believe that gen has the option of painted handles and mirrors or black plastic. I don't think there was another option unless it was dealer or PO installed.

So I believe they are just covers and the original parts would then be black painted or black plastic. Again, I'm not sure, so if you go prying with a hunting knife and destroy your parts, please don't come at me with that knife!

I took my original black mirrors off of my 2011 GMC and put on aftermarket sport mirrors, since I lowered my truck.

Plasti-dip them maybe?

Thanks for the help guys. I'm looking to do gloss black so plasti dip isn't much of an option.
