99 Tahoe turn signal switch issue-Lights flickering

My 99 Tahoe turn signal switch is having issues. When my lights are on and I move the tilt wheel the headlights flicker with each setting that the wheel moves and locks into. My friend takes dash and cover off of steering wheel and we discover a wire barely hanging on, a bit corroded and the rubber covering the wire rubbed off due to rubbing when wheel is tilted. He says this type of harness has to be replaced due to the way it's wired into the harness. Has anyone here ever have an issue with their turn signal switch harness and was able to just fix the wire and not have to get a new harness?

1) You're in the wrong forum section, the 99 Tahoe is a GMT-400 platform which is the 88-98 section.

2) Here is a picture of the multifunction switch assembly. The portion of your harness that has failed is likely one of those wires and the harness is not separate from the switch. Quickest/cheapest repair is to solder the wires back together. Alternatively the Dorman replacement multifunction switch assembly s ~$52 from Amazon.com. I don't know what the quality of their electrical components are, some people don't mind them, I personally use Delco parts. Could also lookup vehicle on rockauto, search for the multifunction switch and look at their offerings.
