AMT reissue 1:25 scale 1972 Blazer model
I tried to do a search on this topic to no avail so it wouldn’t be a potential repost but no luck.
Anyway, not sure if you all have seen the AMT 1972 Blazer model kit that has been recently reissued by Model King. Supplies are limited as only 5000 kits have been made. I ordered two yesterday. This is not the same as the AMT die case 1969 Blazer. Check it out… http://www.modelroundup.com/images/amt72blazer.jpg These can be ordered from Model Roundup at 404-250-0265 for a bargain price of $21.75. Not too bad for a kit that has been out of production for almost 30 years. http://www.modelroundup.com/index.html |

Have seen it posted before but that is no problem - good to have the number and web address for it - it's pretty sweet looking on the package.

This is how the original Boondocker kit turned out. I build this one around 1998 or 99. I added aftermarket aluminum tubing for exhaust, aftermarket scale Super Swamper TSL’s and fabricated a lift kit for it. It seems these days I don't have time to build real trucks or models. :whine: |

The model looks pretty cool. Nice work. No turn signals for the front bumper?

Nonetheless, the detail you put into that model is incredible.

Re: AMT reissue 1:25 scale 1972 Blazer model
If you catch them right, you can get them on ebay in the $17 range. I also bought the '69 diecast just to get the correct front end to match my 1970. The parts match up size wise, I just to figure a way to mount the other front end to this kit.

it's funny how a google search continually turns up 67-72chevytrucks...
as a revival, i noticed a web site selling an unopened boondocker for $90! i sure would love to get my hands on one of these kits...somehow i think it'd be appropriate for me to do one...;) if you guys see one on ebay and you're not going for it yourself, would yo please let me know? i don't get on ebay much... |
Re: AMT reissue 1:25 scale 1972 Blazer model
Wow, have a kit in the attic, half put together, better dig it out! Not sure if it's a AMT, but it's a first Gen. Must be time to finish- I mean modify it! Would be a great inspiration for my current 1970 resto! Have many other toy trucks, models, I can use for spare parts. Best part of this builup- all parts are paid for! K5 to stay alive!

Re: AMT reissue 1:25 scale 1972 Blazer model
Dug it out of the attic tonight. Don't want to date myself, but the only date I can find on the instructions is 1984. It's a amt/ERTL, #6609, Chevy Blazer 4x4, THUNDERBOLT ONE kit. Back in oh, about the late 80's I completed the motor, drivetrain, suspension, etc. The rest is waiting. Don't think I'm going to do it per/instructions, going to build it closer to my ideas. Kinda cool though, it has top loader axels! Have a few other model kits to pirate parts from, so maybe I'll get creative! Stock rules, custom makes me drool!

Re: AMT reissue 1:25 scale 1972 Blazer model
I built that Thunderbolt kit to look like my`71 back in`84.It`s expected to pay big bucks for vintage kits.I think it sucks that they sell this new kit for so much more than other new kits. The dies were made 35 years ago. They just need to pour the goo and box it.There`s no comparing a re-issue to an original.I have a collection of vintage kits.I can`t seem to find my Thunderbolt.

Cool, special k. Would like to see pic's when you find it. I want to paint the body on mine to match my 70 k5. See any problem using rattle can paint on this kind of plastic?
