I was wondering if anyone has experiance rebuilding a tailgate? Mine has good metal but its bowed out pretty far. Has anyone had luck getting them straight and how?

Drew did this to his "Young Frankenstein" build. start on Post #214 i think.. Hope this helps.

the rest of this build is a great read as well, if you havnt seen it before, and you have about 3 days to read...

good luck, Barry

I did basically the same thing with bar clamps and the 6x6's shown here. If I had a porta power I would do what is shown! As a final note, I bought a reproduction tailgate from Chevrolet restoration world because there was too much work involved in getting the letters and raised panel flat. Mine was a stepside gate, but I assume it is the same. I think the repo gate was about $200. Justified with an hourly labor rate to fix it...
