New project need help

Ok so I'm new to the forum and look forward to yalls help. So I'll just jump in I had a 73 c10 but a large oak tree killed it bent the frame bed and cab. I've picked up a 68 with a 250 i6 and it's pretty rough not looking for a show stopper just a fun rat/hot rod. I'm trying to figure out what if anything I can use from the 73 to help build the 68. I deffenatly want the 73s engine as it's a 350 with cam intake holly and is like to use the flow tech long tubes of they will fit. Any info is greatly appreciated thanks. Ps the 68 is a 3 spd manual and is really like to keep it a manual.

Someone else should chime in, but you should be able to use the trans and bellhouse from the 68 and bolt directly to the 350 motor from the 73. If you put the motor in the forward (V8) position, you will probably have to buy the V8 perches. If you are putting the 350 in the I6 location, you can do that, but the distributor will be tight against the firewall, and you will have a large gap from the fan and the rad shroud (if you are running a shroud). My truck has the 350 in the I6 location. The front suspension & brake components should also bolt right up to the 68. If the 73 has power brakes, that should transfer pretty easily as well, although you may have to use an adapter plate for the booster (so I've read).

First of all welcome to the forum. We are glad you have chosen to join us. And you picked a great year, 68, not that I am biased. LOL

There is a few things that would interchange, as the motor and transmission. But I think the biggest thing would be that you can unbolt the entire front crossmember with the suspension intact and bolt it under your 68 and now you have disc brakes. To convert it from the I6 to V8 you will need different motor mounts at the frame. And if you go automatic from the 3spd you will need an automatic transmission crossmember.

Thanks for all the info guys I didn't realize that many parts would swap over. I was looking at the 68 and it looks as if the clutch linkage attaches to the engine block will the 350 have this attachment as well?

Ok so I have a little bit of a update I have picked up a indy shifter for the 68. I'm wondering now if it's tall enough for a truck if any one has used one please let me know. Also I'm still wondering if my long tube headers will clear the clutch linkage any info is greatly appreciated
