Manual 465 to 90v20 Burb q's
So my friend wants to swap manual clutch setup, 465/205 into his 90 3/4 4x4 burb with a 400 and vss. I told him that I would love to help, but I have never done this swap. I have done the hydro swap and it was not too bad.
I am thinking the clutch linkage bracket could be the most pita thing to do. Any tips or pointers?I |

Pretty sure the square body still had mechanical linkage in 90. Find a truck with all the goodies under the dash and install.
what's going to happen to the existing transmission and t-case? |

I have that bracket. Let me find it and I can get some measurements for you. I don't think it would be hard to make from scratch.

I think the first yr for Hydro clutch for 83-84. I used a dually one as a donor for another swap. It was easier without the linkage. The trans has no reverse. Not sure. |

I have 465/205 early style Pedal Assembly and Z bar linkage from pedal a 78 k20 frame with a bracket and linkage Early Flat trans crossmember and t case skid He is offering up a 74 K20 350/465/205,with a Dana 44/14bff that runs and drives as a payment with current reg. |

I misunderstood, I thought you were missing the bracket. When you said it's going to be the worst part of the swap, you meant locating the bracket on the new frame?

85 is first year of the hydro clutch.

I have a bracket. I meant getting the bracket on. Would one have to lift the body off the frame a bit to drill the mounting holes? |

Well my bud decided to stick with the manual setup. Potentially down the road, he is considering the Novak hydro retrofit.
He dropped it off a few days ago and since the weather is shot and we are still amassing parts. I most likely won't start for a few more weeks. This will give me the time to get some needed parts ready. So, what I have. 465/205 10 spline input, twin stick rails, 30 spline front output. Pedal assembly with z bar and brackets. What I need to get for the swap 465/205 bolt in floor hump(optional & needs to be cut out)$80 Clutch kit #04-902 Flywheel for the newer crankshaft #lwf201 Starter. #Ns3838 Vss conversion for the 205 output. Behemouth Drivetrain $300 Driveshafts. $800-1000 Now there has been some discussion on weather or not he wants me to just leave the column in park and not wire in a clutch start switch. He wants to just leave it, but he has little boys... I think I am just going to wire in the pedal switch. I would hate to hear about it later and someone got hurt. Pretty nice looking truck, I actually had the opportunity to get this burb before my bud got it. It was for sale for $400 with no moving gears. He put a vacuum modulator on it and got forward gears only. |

And boom... Just like that. Everything is on hold until I find out if the headers will work with the mechanical linkage.
Dang it. I think they are thorely tri's. |
Re: Manual 465 to 90v20 Burb q's
They would work fine if you ran the factory hydraulic clutch setup for that truck.

Re: Manual 465 to 90v20 Burb q's
Correct. He doesn't have the cash for it.
I found a whole 88 k5 donor, but he opted out. He pays my time, so I let him decide. I tried to explain all the benefits. The blazer even had a tilt column and bench seat. It was mechanically sound with a rotten body. Guy was asking $1500. Even passed smog. |
Re: Manual 465 to 90v20 Burb q's
The owner said the headers had holes in them so he had planned to change them out.
Manifolds are on order. |
