frame boxing
Hi gang,
Is there any issue with recessing the added plate when boxing a frame? I'm considering insetting the plate an inch or so for clearance of brake and fuel lines and wiring. I'm planning to use 3/16" with 2" dimple dies. Thanks, steve |
Re: frame boxing
Wouldn't think so, that's exactly how I would it.

Re: frame boxing
I agree, it also gives you room for a nice fillet weld.

wouldn't think so....and itll give a nice little ledge to weld on...

Re: frame boxing
Lot of work boxing in a frame correctly. Keeping it straight and putting in a lot of bolt sleeves.

Since I'm adding a flatbed, I was recently told boxing the rear end isn't necessary but I question that. What are your thoughts? |
Re: frame boxing
I don't think it is necessary to use 3/16, that adds a lot of weight.

Re: frame boxing
Even 1/8 is overkill. I'd consider 14 ga.
