Is this factory correct paint?
 

I'm looking at buying a 1972 Cheyenne Super and the paint is throwing me for a bit of a loop. I thought on trucks with upper and lower moldings, the white stripe should be situated in the middle of the moldings?

I thought white bottoms only came on trucks with only lower moldings.

It's a Canadian truck and it has been repainted.

Not 71-72 factory correct. It should be as you stated. That is 69-70 correct.
You probably should look closer at truck/spid/vin. Etc. etc. to make sure you know what you are getting

Yeah, I've seen a few 71 and 72 Suburbans with only a black lower trim molding and a white bottom. I thought it might be a rare Canadian option to have it painted this way.

It was a 307 2 bbl truck and a past owner changed the intake and carb so it could run a 4bbl. I previously thought all 72 Cheyenne Supers were 350/4bbl trucks. Seemed like an interesting combination.

Other than that and the paint, everything seems correct and original. The VIN and original build sheet for the truck all seem correct.

Subourbans didn't come with upper trim so the lower and top were the trim color through 72. The pick ups 71 and 72 had the middle stripe on the deluxe two tones. The standard two tone was trim color on the roof.

You could have any engine that was available for that year. Even the 6 cyl in a Cheyenne.

IMO, a shame that paint scheme didn't continue 71-72. If it did I'd do just that. Unless I'm mistaken, 69-70 had the pick of the liter paint schemes. I believe the 2 tone deluxe (between belts) was an option as well.
