tricks to cleaning stained aluminum

i have a set of aluminum valve covers and i got a little bit of engine degreaser on them. i just cant get the stains out. i have tried mothers and all of the other brands and nothing will work. do yall think that there is a layer of clearcoat on them. ill do anything.

There's nothing you can do. The engine cleaner etched the aluminum. You can paint, powdercoat or sand them with Scotchbrite to give them a spun aluminum look.

Have you tried California Customs? It has an oxidizer just for those type of stains. Tell ya what. I will send ya a bottle of each and I will pay the shipping. If you dont like it just pay to ship it back to me. If you like it you can pay to ship the product back to me or you can buy the product from me. You cant really loose. I dont sell this stuff but I do keep several bottles on hand. If ya wanna, PM me your address.

how much?

Mudder 06-04-2005 06:24 AM

Its $13 a bottle I believe but I'm not selling it to you unless you try it and like it and want to buy it. If you dont like it you can ship it back to me. So you 'll just be out the shipping cost if you try it and it doesnt work. Some before and after pics would be cool especially if it works. Now if I get nearly empty bottles back and ya say ya dont like it I might think something is fishy LOL.......:)

I'm curious to see if this will work for ya.

EagleOne makes a product called Mag wheel etching cleaner for bare aluminum. It cleans aluminum amazingly well. It`s about 5 bucks and is found at most of your autoparts stores. You can also have them glassbeaded, but try the stuff I mentioned. You`ll be amazed by it.

My intake is stained very badly as well. I was going to bead blast it.. but would this stuff work?

Mudder 06-18-2005 11:05 PM

I would like for crm to respond but since he hasnt I will. He said the Cali. Customs didn't get rid of the spot he has but he also said it was some very good stuff. I used to use some Eagle stuff on my Mags of my 86 Camaro. It did work good. I also used it on my intake to some good results. Keep it away from polished aluminum.

im sorry man, im in the middle of moving and have not had time for anything. the stuff works great. the stain in my valve covers its an extreme pit caused by degreaser. the product is awsome and it works better than any aluminum polishes i have ever used.

Mudder 06-20-2005 03:13 AM

Oh its a not problem. Wish it would have helped ya out. My Welds got some pits one time that it wont help either. Sanding and polishing is about the only way if that stuff wont work.
