Houston54, I owe you a beer sir! I read your post some time back but never bookmarked your page. Your post helped me with my gauges. I posted the pics of what I did on my build page. I thank you once again for posting pics and helping out others with your cool mod tricks.

I will take a Sam Adams, any blend but don't let my better half know about it or I will have hell to pay.

Glad some of my efforts have helped someone else.

Your truck is looking good and having your son involved just makes it better. It was a recipe that worked for us.

Haneline now has a speedometer that works on a GPS, that is what I get for buying them before I needed them !!

Their position is the gauges are not defective. The solution in their mindset is to reduce the speedometer lighting to the low level of the gauge bucket. How is that for a quality product?

When you purchase instruments would you not expect the lighting levels to be the same between the units? Maybe that is an assumption I should not have made.

Other than the poor lighting issue I think the units work just fine. They certainly are not as slick as Haneline or Classic but then they cost half as much.

I am not trying to bash the heck of Dolphin but rather make others aware of this issue so they will not be disappointed with their selection as I am.

I bought Dolphin Gauges, I havn't installed them yet. I just did a search about them on other forums and it seems others are disapointed in the lighting as well. I wish I would have bought something different now. Is there anyway to upgrade the lighting to something brighter?

Looks like their add should have said "For day time use only"
Thanks for bringing this to the fourm I will not have anything to do with them because of there bad customer relations.
I guess they can afford to lose business for a crappy product. It would ahve been much cheaper for them to buy back there product!!!

Update - I forwarded the links to the various sites on which I had posted my info on the Dolphin gauges to the company this AM and received a prompt reply. The end result of the pleasant email conversation is they have decided the problem does require action and they are working on an LED lighting update for the gauge bucket.

Whether it will help me in my application was not discussed but I can hold out hope.

Should they take the needed corrective action I think it will bode well for them as the product does fill a need in our hobby, that being a functional and affordable gauge set. It is good to see a vendor address a problem even if it took some negative exposure on the WWW.

i have the same trouble with my dolphin gauges not quite as bad as yours. other than lighting issues they work & look great. keep us up to date

I have been undecided as to go digital or analog. I had it narrowed down to Dolphin for the analog and Dakota Digital for the digital. Thanks for the info, doesn't look like Dolphins are in the running anymore too much $$$ to gamble.

I couldn't see my Dakota during the daytime in my 57. Use the Dakota at night and the Dolphin during the day!!;)

I installed Classic Gauges. There must be something different in the way the Dolphin Gauges are wired because the instructions in my American Wire kit were different for Dolphin gauges.
