Squaring up and aligning PB Frame ?
hey guys, im currently putting my PB parts together, all has been pretty smooth so far, the guys at Porterbuilt are amazing to work with.:metal:
I need help on how to make sure the frame comes back together squared and aligned |
Re: Squaring up and aligning PB Frame ?
My 64's set-up is PF front x-member, LWB-to-SWB frame chop, & rear frame 'Z'. Not exactly apple-to-apples but in the same spirit...
I did diagonal measurements based off of factory holes on each rail/side. I did diagonal measurements from: Front rail ends to rear rail ends Front rail ends to back cab mounts From back cab mounts to rear rail ends The frames weren't perfect from the manufacturer (mine was off <1/8" when measured as a LWB). I was able to get within 1/16" diagonally once modified. |

Scoti when taking these measurements. Was the truck on the ground as a roller or can it be done on jack stands ?

My hardware was all yellow zinc plated. I tagged each bolt w/a Sharpie as they were torqued down once it was squared. This allowed me to go back & double check what was torqued & what was just temporarily secured. |
Re: Squaring up and aligning PB Frame ?
You did this during final assembly I’m assuming. Not for mock up ?

Loosely assembling & squaring the chassis? It was done for both mock-up & final assembly. Eliminate surprises when possible. |
