71 big block power steering tank mounting question

I’m putting my power steering back together after pulling the motor yrs ago, can’t seem to figure out where the top tank mounts on the rad support, I know it up on the drivers side top , any body got a pic?

Some have extension bracket on reservoir. Is there a year by year location, or can there be differences by plant?

too much stuff 05-07-2023 12:37 PM

No big blocks in 67.
68 had the extension.
I "think" they were all mounted as pictured, even with the extension.

Correct no BBC in 67, I built a 67 BBC to look like a factory install. As everyone knows, 67 frames are wider (each rail) than 68s which are narrowed to accommodate the new 396 option.

Is a 72 the same? I don’t know if these pics help.

Oh sorry. Never mind. You meant the reservoir on the fender

I've seen several methods. I did not find an extension, on top of that I have hydroboost brakes, so I made a return line in my remote reservoir.

Is there a published 67-72 guide with all the options, unique characteristics, and rare configurations? Or a guide judges use for shows?

I am putting together a 396 with all the original brackets on my 68. I have a reservoir but don't know exactly what year it is. Did the 68 PS reservoir mount on the radiator support?

I am piecing everything together to do a factory restoration on my big block 68 someday too. Pretty much have all the accessory stuff. But what I’m missing is photos of how everything goes (like the PS res). Would be great to see how yours turns out.

The 1968 BB power steering reservoir is mounted on the drivers side fender like 69-72 but has a bracket that extends it out from fender. (See pic)

That bracket is a very hard item to find now days.

It's news to me they now reproduce the late style reservoir.

The entire Big Block power steering is reproduced. It's actually borrowed from 1967 Chevelle. In 68... chevelles went to long water pumps. Trucks remained with short water pump system thru 1972. I put the system on my 67 BBC conversion.
