For those guys restoring their factory ac and heater boxes
Thought I'd post a video for you guys thinking about doing this to your boxes. It can be done to look very nice. Basically showing a before and after final assembly of the boxes describing all the parts that go to it.

I did this, not as well though. I wish I could have removed my internal door (flapper) but guys on here talked me out of it. I was able to repaint the outside side, at least that won't rust.

Benny if you can please post pictures and document the work you do on apacheIvan's truck. Of course with his permission. His truck is a great example of what a lot of folks are dealing with on their A/C.

Hi Banny, sorry I forgot to let you know we received the A/C unit you sent us (I have yet to install it). You do excellent work, thank you very much.

Re: For those guys restoring their factory ac and heater boxes
I guess i shouldn't have put it that way. What I meant by not doing service work is that I primarily do restoration of the parts. I can and have taken jobs when it was a complete restoration with installation where the owner is in no hurry. And that's pretty much the only service type jobs I take. Because the parts restoration jobs take up most of my time. And yes the housings are bead blasted and cleared.

Re: For those guys restoring their factory ac and heater boxes
ApacheIvan, if you would like to take it to a place that works with r12, check out McCain's A/C auto repair in Dallas. They work on classics and still work with r12.

I will look them up. Do you think I should just get the r12 muffler, disassemble everything and clean it out, buy a new drier and put it all back together dry? |
Re: For those guys restoring their factory ac and heater boxes
You can do that. Then just take to them and have them charge it
