80 Scottsdale build

Picked up this 80 Scottsdale a month or so ago for 900 bucks. Drove the truck 300 miles to get it home with no problems but it leaks fluid like crazy. Plan to replace fenders and hood, install the stepside bed I picked up this past weekend, lower it, clean up the rallys (paint, new rings and caps), reseal the engine, probably paint a flat color then cruise it

Hey, nice find. I was born in Clovis!! Maybe I'll can see next time I'm in the Texas Panhandle.

Driving it 300 miles is a great way to know it's true colors. Are those new doors?

Yeah, I picked up the new door, new dash, new fiberglass bumper and the bed for 500.00

That front bumper looks like its molded for the 1981-up Style front end, not the 73-80... If it uses the factory mounting brackets you'll probably need to pick some of those up as well so it sits properly, and it may be kind of tight on the fenders unless you're switching to a 81-up front clip when you do the fenders/hood swap (but you would need to change the inner wheelwells and core support as well...)

Yeah wasn't sure what I was gonna do with it. I do have an 81 c10 but I'm not on that project at this time, lol. I may just set it to the side and use it at a later date

Removed the front clip today so we could pull the engine and trans and decide what I want to do with them. Hoping to just clean them up, reseal and reinstall. Maybe mild cam, intake and carb.

Some updated pics from the last week. I also have all the body components at a friends house in the paint booth. Installed drop spindles, springs and flip kit. Getting the motor put back together.

This is my inspiration. Planning on a satin orange and white paint job with staggered 15inch ralleys though. Sorry I couldn't get the picture to rotate

No as you can tell in the engine picture its nothing special on the intake. I'm only using the cowl hood because i already have it and am trying to build this on a budget
