I am awaiting the grill and windshield frame from powder coat and then will continue the puzzle. The seat is not done either -- taking too long.

Powder coat did not happen. With fiberglass fenders and an aftermarket grill, I have been adjusting for hood fitment for 3 days and probably will take another day at least on the driver side. Hood will be red.

Choices, if I go with an 87" stepside bed, it will have to be widened and slightly tubbed to get 2 " wider rear fenders to cover the 85" width of the duals.

Headboard and the tailgate can be fabbed, tailgate is the more problem. Not got an exact measurement but somewhere around 10" wider which makes the full running boards a problem also. Could go with the big truck running boards -- I have a pair of them.

If I go flatbed it is nearly square with width being about 88" and length from 92" - 96"--have about 10 or so inches overhang of the frame.

Any pics out there that could help either way?

A 1975 c20 14 bolt FF SRW with 11x2 3/4" brakes is near a perfect fit for a 46 3/4 ton. I plan on duals but singles work also. Duals will require fender work - 5+ inches each side but no tubbing. Awaiting ubolts, spring plates, and shock mounts to finish up.

I notice in your picture you have 8 lug wheels in front, in an earlier picture it was 6 lug. what did you do to yours to make it a duallie 8 lug front? on my GMC (which had a different bolt pattern) I swapped later 8 lug hubs onto my axle then got some gm duallie adapters from a friend of mine, but it is still drum brake in front

On the front I used the 6 to 8 lug adapters which are 2 inches thick. Dually front wheel sits in the front wheel well just right with no rubbing of tire on a left turn. Has 16" radials on the front and drum brakes all the way around. I changed the front axle earlier in a thread to a 57 half ton because of getting drums for a 46 3/4 ton.

Ok, a little cooler out there today -- about 10 degrees. Kicked on the furnace in the garage and can live with 55 degrees.

I had to change out the 14 bolt srw lugs which were 2 3/4" long. Put in dually lugs which are about 3 1/2" long. Only needed a 1/4" for a full lug nut but got a half inch extra.

Windshield, header, wiper, and one piece headliner is in... I do not want to talk about the headliner.

On duallies, inside measurement from sidewalls is 49 inches. Tires are 7.50x16's.

Dennis, where did you get your one piece headliner from. Did it fit properly? I know some of them can be a real biotch.

Paintman, I have installed a 2 pc in the 42--- which was a 2 piece originally -- no problems.
I was drugged or drunk --- probably just near stupid for getting the one piece especially not having experience with uphosltering. If it ever gets changed on the 41 cab it will be a 2 peice but I will need the other piece of trim for the middle bow.

This one peice came from Jim Carter Trucks but I had some cleanup after spending near a whole day on it. It looks acceptable but not for a show truck.

Front and back were fine --sides ---argh.......

It may have been a correct piece with the correct installer. Someone needs to do a youtube on correct procedure for installation and how to properly use the ammonia and water on a 1 piece.

So you used a one piece cardboard headliner????????? I thought they were all ABS.
I am in the process of doing my interior panels on my 46. I bought a 2 piece from Jim Carter. Right now I just have it sitting up on top of the wind lace pieces but not screwed in place. Seems to fit really well without even messing around with it yet. All the holes line right up!

I"m not sure what the process is either with wetting the headliner either, or if it's even needed.. Mine doesn't look like it will need any wetting. When I got my headliner it was rolled up in a box. Alot of guys over on the stovebolt site say lay it flat for a few weeks. That doesn't make any sense. You want it to be somewhat curved. I just took mine out of the box, rolled it out and draped it over my seat. This way the ends stayed curved and the middle kind of straightened out. If that makes any sense. LOL! I just hope it goes back in that easy when it's upholstered.

Yea it was a one piece cardboard that came rolled and when unrolled it was flat. Been nice if prebent in the right places. The prob on the one piece is solved with a 2 piece. The center bow sides are where the one piece is nasty and requires water and ammonia. The 2 piece needs none of that.

One guy said it took him 3 times to get one right --but I bet he could do the 4th one ccrrect now. Takes know how. Need to buy a can from NAPA.

I did get my Earnhart jr valvoline bobble head today. haha

Got one door logo done. Mowrystown Brick and tile in Ohio was in business I think late 30's to early 50's. This was actually one of the trucks - cab was on a ton and a half dump truck.

Not the tractor in the article but here is some info for history buffs..

Hey Dennis! Nice progress. You mentioned you are about to put your side glass in. I was wondering if, and where, you purchased the rubber side sweeps for your glass. I recently bought a pair off ebay from Class Chevy. Unfortunately the fit is terrible. They are way to small for the channels in the door. I was wodering if you may have had better luck with a different vendor.

The horizontal glass wipers are from Jim Carter. But I am not impressed. I have them installed on the outside but may not really be functional as they do not appear to stick out far enough to wipe the glass. Let me know if you do any better.

That looks as if it's going to be an issue with the ones I have as well. The portion of the sweep (barrel) that sits in the holding channel is way to small, thus when you put it in the channel, the sweep portion of the rubber actually sits down in the channel as well moving it to far from the glass. If that makes any sense. I see Steele rubber has a set for 4x the price........ $61. I guess when these vendors say it their parts fit 41-46 what they really mean is it doesn't fit properly, it just falls right in so you can't use it. The Fleecing of America!

I do not remember the wipes fitting so poorly on the 42. I think they came from Chevs of the 40's.
$10.50 a set. May be worth a call to them to ask. p/n 3847051

I checked on the 42 and it has the same problem and were from Chevs of the 40's so I am going to try to double it with the 2nd one going on top (maybe) and should point upward and out about an 1/8" more. Will let you know. I may not worried to much on the inside as the side channels keep the window from rattling. For now at least. I do not have the inner panels done yet anyway.

Dennis, How did you go about fastening the window channel felt ? The ones I took out of my truck were held in with screws. When I ordered new ones from Jim Carter it said they should be glued in place. What kind of glue would be used?

I think I am going to take a chance and order a set of window sweeps from Steele Rubber. Unfortunately a set from Steele is $60, and I have not had good luck with them in the past. The sweeps they sell have a cross section phot that shows the barrrel sidth is 5/32 which is larger then the ones I currently have.

I AM SO FED UP WITH THIS CHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
