Driveshaft trouble

Hi all,

I have a 72 c10 longbox 2wd. It was a 6 cylinder 4 speed. Needless to say it was old and tired. I bought a 77 Chevy 2wd longbox with a 350 and what I believe to be a turbo 350. The 72 now has the 350 and transmission from the 77.

While the 72 had 2 driveshafts and the 77 only had one, I have ran into trouble. The shaft from the 77 is too long.

So, if I bought a driveshaft for a 72 with a 350 would that fit without needing modification?

Or does anyone else know a website where I could order one custom to where I know it would fit?

Thanks, Austin

Re: Driveshaft trouble

More than a few places to buy new drive shafts, Denny's Drive shafts...or I have bought 1 from these guys, good quality and price... [url]http://www.pstds.com/custom-driveshafts/. Either used or new you need a good measurement for this to work. with weight on the wheels ( jack stands under the axle) measure center of U joint to center of U joint. You will need a yoke in the end of the trans sticking out about an 1". check their web site for info on measuring.

I went to a junkyard and picked through till I found one that looked solid and was a few inches long picked it up for under $30 and then paid $75 to have it shortened and balanced.
