I actually had to shave mine down to work with the steering column I used. Mine was too long to get the button on... aftermarket parts more often than not not require "custom" fitting! Still love that seat!

Just re-read your build as I am starting another 42. It is terrible that all the pics are gone of the frame setup on this one and Phoenix. I am going to use an S10 frame this time. Any chance you have pics of how to setup the frame?

I might have pictures on my backup machine doc, I will look.

one thing about the 41-46 stuff is that it was designed and built before the manufacturing efficiency changes of WWII. so for example the cab would come down from overhead and meet the chassis on the production line and then the worker would drill the holes through the frame to mount the cab, so there can be as much as an inch (1/2 inch either direction forward or aft) difference between cab mounting holes. also on an S10 frame the outside of the framerails needs cut off, like 1/2" at the very front to let the cowl and fenders fit. this is lessened by how high you mount the cab off the body, at around 4.5" you dont need very much trimming at all.


what sticks out to me is measuring 8 1/4" rearward from the back of the oval hole on the top of the S10 frame as a starting point for the center of the front mount, tacking that in and the rear mounts I left loose on the frame until the fronts were set and I had checked the position of the wheel in the wheelarch.

I will be doing a 4B mockup (body bed bumpers running boards) of a 1942 this fall to develop folding mounts for the 40-46 trucks, so I will have pictures of the process this year. keep an eye out!

Looking forward to the next build. I was considering building a frame like I did for My Model A, but if I can make the S10 one work that would be great

better late than never! this was three days ago, getting there!

i have to proof them, but i bet they are ready to go to the laser cutter as is, i have done 2 myself and helped with 2 others with the same design (you can kinda see one back behind it), so this is just an exercise in making them foldable.
