Battery Size & Factory Battery box

Hello,

I'm just wondering what you guys are running for batteries who use the OEM underfloor battery box.

Rough measurements are 9 1/4" wide by 7 1/4" deep and about 7 1/2"-8 1/2" tall for the battery hold down threads.

Looking for something with good CCA and wont have any problems starting a 350 with minor electrical. Pictures would also be nice to see.

Thank you for your time.

a lot of the starting problems actually come from poor connections or undersized wire/cable for the amp draw required.
longer run = larger wire. use good wire ends or buy good cabling that has good cable terminals. if you put the battery under the floor I would advise some remote booster lugs somewhere accessible. especially if you plan on no door handles, just some poppers. be aware of where the exhaust is running as well, especially if you have a low truck that can trap heat under the truck when parked. use a heat shield on the battery if running exhaust close. don't forget to fuse the circuits or fusible link or circuit breaker somewhere close to the battery if a long run of cable before the fuse panel.

A stock battery is group 1
Group Size (BCI): 1
Cold Cranking Amps (CCA): 640 CCA
Cranking Amps (CA): 800 CA
Reserve Capacity (min): 130 Minute
Voltage (V): 6 Volt
Length (In): 9-1/8 Inch
Width (In): 7-1/8 Inch
Height (In): 9-3/8 Inch
Terminal Type: Top Post
This link gives group size and the measurements and if you can decode it the battery post location.

It would be preferable to have the + post at the front next to the frame rail if at all possible.
A group 35 should fit pretty good but the + post would be at the back. you for sure want the battery posts on the frame side of the battery no matter what battery you use.

A group 25 might be worth looking at too.

Group 35 fits perfect in my 50 3100. Conveniently, it also fits my 55 210 sedan and Kubota tractor so always have a solution for a dead battery
