Powder coated rims and radials
 

Anone found the need to lightly sand inner bead of a steel wheel prior to mounting a radial to keep the bead from popping off? PC guy mentioned this to me, but on my way out the door I saw a few big rock crawlers, maybe this is for lower than normal pressures or someething, new to me...

No, many steel wheel / radial combos on the road. He may have been talking about cleaning the rust from the bead area to prevent bead leaks. Or he may have been taking about tube type wheels.

Tube type wheels do not have the safety lip to keep tubeless tires on the bead when they go flat. I have run tubeless tires on tube type rims for many miles, no issues. But it could pop off of the bead when flat if the conditions are right (or wrong, however you want to look at it)

I had a 46 and just sandblasted and painted the wheels and mounted the same size Goodrich trials on them, never had an issue. Honestly was surprised... Two piece, riveted, they were tight!
I believe I will mount them up as it today. Can't wait, 235/85 R16's on factory 16's with clips. Will change the look,and stance altogether.
