Real life results on flattened paints
I would like to hear from people who have used semi gloss paints. I seems like it has been out long enough to get some results on longevity, I realize it’s not going to last like gloss,I’m talking daily driver sitting in the sun. How long before blacks chalk up? How long before the reds fade? Do the silver and grays do better?Any info welcomed.
Just looking for some solid info Thanks, Jan |

Sorry it's not a C10, but this was my daily driver for around 5 years in this paint. It looked identical after 5 years as when I first sprayed it. It's single stage "Hot Rod Black" from Hot Rod Flatz.

Hey thanks for the response, did you paint it? I’ve heard its a pain to get a smooth finish and up keep can be a pain.

Depends on the paint I used a flatting agent in my interior clear but the flatting is only on the surface you’re hands will polish frequently handled areas don’t know about other paints like the hotrod black I would believe single stage with a flatting agent would do the same

Upkeep is easy, just be careful not to get any oil on it (even from your hands) and wash it normally. No wax/polish or you end up with a glossy finish. If it gets shiny in spots, I had good luck knocking the shine down by scrubbing with comet. |
