Build one with MDF wood and keep it around 4.75" tall.

I'm considering these - they also sell kick panels with built in speakers. Has anyone used these?

The kick panel pods, even empty, are a waste of $75 if you ask me. They look cheap, are cheap, and overpriced. I have a pair in my truck, and the speakers they come with suck (the custom autosound ones), but they do install without having to hack anything. If i were to do it agian i would have just sliced the doors for 6x9's. But if you don't want to slice i would get the kick panel pods and put in a decent pair of aftermarket speakers, like some Pioneer's, Kickers, Rockford Fosgate, ect. I've got Kicker 6.5" coaxials in my car and they rock....about $70 a pair but worth it IMO.

I made a box 13x14x5 that fit right between the frame of the seat, and stuffed that bad boy under the seat.Packed it with a 10" MTX sub.
For now I have a couple of 6x9's in enclosures in front of the seat.
And I have some 4" pioneers that I am going to mount in a kick panel.I am going to make a template out of cardboard.Cut a real one out of thin paneling, and cover it in carpet, and mount the speaker in it.Someone has already cut the holes in the kick panels,so I figured I might as well make use of them;)
I still have to get the kick panels made though.

I ran the RCA to the 200 watt amp
rear speakers to the 6x9s
and the fronts will go to the kick panel.

It sounds good with out the kickpanel though:D
