New Headers (Pic's)

I finally got my butt in gear and did some work to "GQ", I'm not finished
with it because the new computer showed up the same day about two
hours after I started on the blazer, here are a few pic's, the spec's on
these are on the 67-72 message board under "parts website rant" ;)

PIC #1 OLD HEADER INSTALLED (DRIVERS)
PIC #2 OLD HEADER REMOVED ON FLOOR
PIC #3 NEW HEADER LAYING ON MY FLOOR
PIC #4 DIFFERANCE IN LENGTH / POSITION
PIC #5 NEW HEADER INSTALLED (DRIVERS)

*pipe in pick #4 is hanging low, just a FYI

Those look really nice! Who makes them? Part #? It looks like they may fit with a manual tranny too. The previous owner of mine had to bend one of the tubes a bit to fit them in with the clutch Z-bar. I'm going to replace them one of these days.

YES, THEY ARE CERAMIC COATED, PAID $274 TO MY DOOR.
I CUT ALL OF THAT OTHER DOWN AND THREW IT AWAY TODAY,
I HAVE A SET OF TURNDOWNS SO I CAN DRIVE IT TO THE SHOP,
GETTING 2.5" ALUMINIZED PIPES, STAINLESS MAGNAFLOWS, &
STAINLESS TIPS TURNED OUT IN FRONT OF THE REAR WHEELS.

Nice headers! I like the "ball flanges". Just a note,...for anyone running the gasket style collector,... Back in the 80's we use to use exhaust "donuts" from a 427 big truck, exhaust manifolds. They were made of steel and wouldn't blow out like a paper gasket. Seems like they wedged in the collector perfectly. I had them on my '71 Chevelle headers, in high school.

Progress

Thanks for doing the homework Craig. :c2:
They look like their a great fit/finish.
Nice to find something that tucks the exhaust up and out of the way, I know I'll be getting some.

YUP, IT WAS REALLY HARD TO BELEIVE W/ SEEING IT WITH
MY OWN EYES, BUT THEY ARE 4.5" HIGHER THAN STANDARD
LENGTH HEADERS OF THE GROUND AND ABOUT 4.5" CLOSER
TO THE MOTOR, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN THE EXHAUST
ALMOST STRAIGHT BACK INSTEAD OF PUTTING THE LARGE
BENDS TO GET THEM BACK UP & OVER THE TRANS STUFF ;)

jamie72 02-24-2005 07:48 PM

WELL, I GOT A TRANNY LINE UP AGAINST MY HEADER AND I CAN'T FIND ANY
METAL HOSE CLAMPS TO TIE THE 2 TRANNY LINES TOGETHER, 1 OF THEM'S
ATTACHED WITH A CLIP, THE OTHER ISN'T, THOUGHT I'D PULL THEM OVER
TOGETHER INSIDE THE FRAME RAIL, NOT MUCH ROOM TO WORK WITH IT. :(

silvertonguedevil 02-25-2005 07:47 PM

I was just kidding BTW

IT'S

BobbyK 02-26-2005 02:40 AM

You could use a small hose clamp to tie them together.
