Is my ALDL 160 baud or 8192, connector looks like this
 

My ALDL connector does not look like any that the fine websites show. Its a 95 Chevy 5.7L 2WD Siverado, std. truck. My ALDL has 12 pin holes but only 6 pins inserted. Per normal layout 2 rows, ABCDEF and GHJKLM and I have pins at ABGHJM.

Do I have a 160 baud system or a 8191baud pre OBDII system. I am tryign to get WinALDL to talk to my computer. It supposed to go to pins A ground and pin E data. I dont have a pin E. :confused:

I thought the 16 pin ALDL was what they switched to when they changed to OBD 1.5... If you have the 12 pin ALDL I would think it is OBD 1...

My connector pins are not like the diagram. I tried to hook to A and M but get no data. What I dont know is this 160 or 8192 baud, because WinALDL wont do 8192, and that may be why I cant see data. Tonight I'm going to break out the old oscilloscope and look for a pulse train on all the pins and determine the frequency. My DMM told me the frequentcy was 1200 hz but I think the DMM was confused by the waveform or something.

The truck has the towing package, dual radiators, oil cooler, 4.11 rearend, I dont know the transmission model, or how to find out what it is. For the software you need to know what ECM you have and thats related to engine "vin letter"??? and transmission 4L60E or 4L80E. What does Vin K or Vin P, Vin J refer to?

a 95 is not 160, 94-up trucks 1/2 ton are not. No 4L80e trucks are.
You need the Datamaster version for your truck.

'94-'95 Automatics use a PCM, and are 8192 BAUD using pin-M of the ALDL. Manual trans for those years (1/2-ton) use an ECM and are 160 BAUD, and use pin-E of the ALDL. Some heavy duty trucks with manual trans also use the PCM, which is 8192 BAUD.

I learned about RPO codes and I found I was wrong about some things. I have the following:
L05 code=5.7L TBI
GT4 code=3.73 diff
M30 code =4L60E trans
NA1,NA5 code= <8500 GVWR, Federal

I'm going to pullput the computer and look for the PCM id number, I think its 1619747, but I'll find out. I'm sure of the 8192 now, I got 2 Max232 chips out of old instruments at the plant today, so i'm going to build up an interface
