couldnt wait.....

well i was off work today so...... i started on the front springs around 12 noon i guess round 2 hrs i had the front in... heres a pic of the fronthttp://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../wheels003.jpg:)

Re: couldnt wait.....

after the front i was gonna call it quits ,,, then a buddy showed up and says... well lets finish this thing so the back went pretty good and quick with 2 people still need to get it outside and measure by the looks inside the shop its still sits higher in the rear, i took out the stock rear blocks, but i belive it is higher cause of the new spring perches we welded on they was around 1 inch taller than factory, sooo i guess im gonna add a spring in the front ,,, i dont really like the looks unless they sit levelhttp://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../wheels008.jpg

va_tlc 06-29-2007 01:48 AM

Re: couldnt wait.....

in this pic youll see that under the front spring hanger theres a welded bracket of some sort, well the passenger side doesnt have one, is this a factory bracket or yall think someone made it?http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../wheels006.jpg

va_tlc 06-29-2007 01:49 AM

Looks good.

What lift did you use and how high? Also what size tire and wheel?

Re: couldnt wait.....

Now you just need to get it out side so we can see some more pics. It looks great from here but we need a few more full truck pics. It almost looks like its to high to get out of the door in the pic.

Re: couldnt wait.....

finally got the rear shocks on an cleaned up the shop this a.m, rechecked all the bolts an pulled the rear wheels off cause i forgot to paint the hubs, then took it for a test drive down the lane, rode pretty good i belive a bit better than before, let my wife take it a spin she had some trouble with the gears at first , then vroom she was off, by the looks of her smile i just lost my truck!!! well heres some outside pics, like i said before i belive its up in the back cause of the new perches, can yall tell it bad? and what would yall do to fix? add leaves to the front? or cut the perches down some? ohh and it came out the door but i had a spotter just in case, http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../wheels009.jpg

Re: couldnt wait.....

I think it looks great! I like when they slope down a little in the front, but that's just me.A leaf added in the front might help.Did you use the perches off the old eaton or the ones on the 14 bolt? The ones from the eaton might bring it down a tad bit in the back.Seeing your 4wd lifted makes me want to down grade the lift, and put on some skinnier and smaller tires!

Re: couldnt wait.....

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../wheels011.jpg..last one for now, hope ya enjoy i belive i am, but im kinda upset since i did this truck azzbackwards as in my inital plans was no lift at all, so i had bought new stock shocks, that i had to take off, took my origanal wheels and tires i had bought luckily they just swapped me for the diffrence, and the front spring bushings i had the guy who set up my front gears , he put the bushings in, then 1 week later i take the springs out then the rear end i had the h0 52 i belive with 4.55 gears, i put new wheel cylinders and brakes on that, and changed the gear oil in it, then found the 14 bolt ff and of course brakes were diffrent and wheel cylinder difrent, so had to do all that to the 14 bolt.... now i have 3.73 both ends, its drivable now

VA_TLC

Thanks for the info. That's the look I'm going for with my '69 as far as lift and tires go. I just got to find time(and $$$$) to start on it.

Re: couldnt wait.....

Would you mind measuring from the ground to the bottom of the bumpers front and rear on the truck now that it's lifted? I want to see how much,if any higher mine sits than yours now..your truck looks like its sitting pretty close to mine, and I like the way yours looks bettter!

Re: couldnt wait.....

sdaily the whole lift was umm 386 shipping and all, that gives you everything you need, if your gonna do it i would deff go start spraying some penerating oil on all ya shock bolts and u bolts, if the u bolts are to tuff to get off just grind em off, cause the kit comes with longer u bolts anyways
