One piece drive shaft
Is is common for an '87 GMC Suburban to have a one-piece driveshaft? It's equipped with a TBI 350 with 700r4 trans. 2 wheel drive, 1/2 ton.
I have a 90 and had an 85, and they both were/are equipped with a 2 piece DS, both 350s with the 700r4, 2 wheel drive, 1/2 tons. |
Re: One piece drive shaft
Is it 2wd or 4x4? Both my 4x4 Burbs have a one piece drive shaft and the two 2wd Burbs I've had came with a 2 piece drive shaft.

Re: One piece drive shaft
I was at the junkyard 3 days pulling a trans out of an 87 burb. 1/2 ton 2wd 350 w/ 700r4 trans. The truck had a 1 piece shaft in it...

I wonder what the critical RPM is on a one-piece shaft as long as the one in a Sub. |
Re: One piece drive shaft
Both of my 2wd (82 and 84) burbs were 3/4 ton. Maybe that might be a factor.

Re: One piece drive shaft
A suburban has the same wheel base as a long box pickup (137.5 in), so it shouldn't be all that uncommon to see a one piece drive shaft.
