205 transfer case mounting??

Anyone have pics of the aftermarket poly mount kit for the 205??

I ordered one (still waiting) and I'm a bit confused. As it lists the adapter mount as well as some sort of torque mount.

On our blazer all I see is a mount at the transmission/transfer case adapter. I don't see anything resembling any type of torque arm. Could it be missing something??

I do have a driveline "thud" when you come to a stop, and take off again. I'm sure it's related in some way. The original rubber transfer case mount has seen better days.

Right on, the transmission mounts are the two adapter mounts that bolt to the crossmember. The torsion mount bushings mount the side bracket to the T-case and the frame on the passenger side. I got my poly set from LMC.

Hmmm, that's where the confusion is. I have no such side bracket on the T-case to pass side frame.

Got a picture of what this looks like? I have this sick feeling I'm going to have to find one.

some 205's didn't have the mount. Do you have to large threaded holes on the lower right side of the TC? This is my rockewell tranny but it has the same toque mounts...

a clunking sound is more than likely U-joints...

Yep, that's the mount. From what I can tell some guys run it and some don't. I am going to run it when I swap out my Dana 20 case for my new NP205.

most 205 dont have them. they stopped use them at all in 72/73.

you dont need them. but you do need to look at all your ujoints, motor bushings, shock bushings, drive shaft splines, pinion yoke, axle u bolts, there is a ton of stuff that can cause a thud.

Re: 205 transfer case mounting??

Ya mines a 72 and evidently didn't come with this mount. Guess I'm going to have some poly bushings from the kit I don't need. I'll crawl under it closer today and look for mounting holes. I would like to add the mount anyway if someone has a spare forsale. Thanks for the pictures too.

Thanks for the ideas guys, here's what I know so far.

The thud isn't the U-joints. Hard to describe but it does it under braking right before you come to a stop. It doesn't do it getting on and off the gas, you have to hit the brakes and be near a complete stop, then it will thud.
Upon acceleration it will thud, but not always in the same spot. Sometimes it will do it as soon as you hit the gas, sometimes halfway through first gear, sometimes it does it on the shift to second gear.
Just depends on how aggressive with the throttle you get. Feels more like something is shifting back and forth. Something heavy.

Motor mounts are fine, shocks are fine. The entire suspension has all new poly bushings on all the springs, as well as every body to frame mount bushing replaced with poly. Arizona's dry climate is hell on rubber parts
U-joints I replaced a few months back, but not for the clunking reason.

Basically everything on the truck is poly with one exception. The transmission mount. And it needs replaced, I can pull chunks of rubber off with my fingers. Which is why I've ordered the poly mount setup.
I don't see how this would cause a clunking unless it's moving up and down or shifting somehow under braking and acceleration, I've seen stranger things,,,but it's getting replaced anyway.
We'll see if it continues.

In the mean time I guess I'll be scouting one of those mounts. Anyone that has a spare please let me know. Thanks.

Firebird, did you ever find out what caused your clunk? I have something similar going on with the 72 Blazer. I thought when I replaced the differentials with new ring gears, pinions, yokes, new Warn hubs etc. it would go away. Also, I have new brakes (front and back), motor mounts and a newly rebuilt 700r4. But I get a thud sometimes on acceleration after coming to a complete stop. I doubt it is mounts, u-joints, spindles. The only thing left is the NP205 transfer case. Its weird. Any ideas?
