Dragsterbus, your 58 has a 59 hood ornament on it. Ether way it's very cool.

Re: My new '58 burb

Glad you like it guys, No it'll be staying left hand drive , there isn't a problem having LHD cars here and i've had approx 12 American cars , less walking to the kerb ! ha ha,
I'm don't like the '59 hood ornament as much as the '58 , it was already there when i got it but there are other things i'll be doing first, I've sorted the doors out and repaired the mullered back door pillar, the rear doors wouldn't open at all ! i've also fitted new locks as i didn't get any door keys, got to do a bottom end rebuild as it knocks on start up , stops knocking when the oil pressure comes up but not worth the risk , could put in some 70 weight out of the dragster i suppose ! , After the engine rebuild i'll register it and get some miles on it,

Thanks Justin , I do bring in parts from various places , mainly Drag race parts , I build a lot of tube chassis cars etc but your stuff looks cool ! I'm building a '38 chevy sedan delivery street rod for a customer at the mo and that needs lots of stuff
Cheers!

The clam shell doors are good and bad all at the same time. I dont think you see as many of them as you do the barn doors, but I like them. It does get hard to get large or heavy items , like huge beer coolers, in and out. When I am out in the Suburban, I use it to tow my 59 to the track. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...he/A1ATHPT.jpg Its not neer as fast as Red Victor, but its fun for me. I gotta say,the dragster bus is insane,,,,, Ilove it. got any videos.

Glad you like the dragsterbus, no videos yet still finishing it off, hoping to do some testing May/june and then run it in july, you're truck is cool ! what does it run ? what engine combo ? I built a 7.50 spec chopped '53 pick up with a 585 Steve Schmitt nitrous motor a couple of years ago ran 8.26 first run and he lifted at 1000ft !

Re: My new '58 burb

Man, That Is Very Cool. The 53 just looks fast but Its way out of my league. I am running a home built 355 that I think will run 10.60s with the current parts. On the DRAGSTUFF forum my son has pictures of his Corvette. and the budget 496 for his car. In a year or so, if his car does well with the 496, I plan to buld one as well. Just dont have the $$$$ for a big inch engine right now. SOMEDAY,,,

10s in a truck is quick dude, and there's nothing wrong with small cubes, if they get the job done ! I just kept saving up and buying the bits to build my bus engine , it's taken about 5 years ! but hopefully it'll be worth it,
Keep up the good work dude !

Looks like its in good shape. Old VW panels are cool if you aren't in a hurry. Here is mine from the 70's, sold it in 1976 to pay for college tution and bought the 59 in my build thread with the money left over.

My mates panel (bay '69) runs 12 second 1/4s with a turbo'd VW flat 4 !
pretty fast for a bus

Thanks! It isn't drivable, but would be very cool to leave it this way. A perfect patina is a horrible thing to change.
