CAB Dolly for paint
 

Last week I modified my CAB dolly so I could tip the cab on its nose to get ready for paint. I used some 8' 4'X4" to have enough room to tilt the cab. I used some 2X6 lumber to support the cab then I used 2X4s to act as guide rails so the cab would not slip off the side. I attached a chain to the bottom of the cab to stop it from falling over on its roof. When the cab is on its nose I attach a brace to keep it in place. It works great and didn't cost over $30.00 for the new lumber.

The whole thing rolls onto a trailer to get it to the shop.

Thats a great idea. I would need detail plans to make it cause I cant drive a nail in straight so me building one from your picture would not happen.
I had my cab flipped over like that the otherday, when if flipped off the hoist onto the ground. :lol:

Real nice idea! I wish I would have thought about that- I put truck bed coating with a roller and brush on the bottom of my cab on my back.... It sucked!!!

That's what I have been dreading! Waiting for it to cool down! How did it come out? Did you use the Dupli-color kevlar coating?

It came out great, the key was using my pressure washer to get everything super clean. I have my cab on a nonrollling stand right now thats 33" off the ground. It made it easier to pressure wash, but having to reach my arms all the way out while laying on a mechincs creeper and rolling that stuff on was very tiring...

Just some helpful hints:
Put a fan under there with you
Get a painters suit from Home Depo to wear.
Use Safety glasses
Get the bottom of the truck super clean

Looks Great. Thats what we build when doing cabs. Just make your own. Most of ours we build the customers talk us out of:lol: Just remember to bolt the casters on good and tight. Nothing like painting a cab and one falls off and your trying to hold a cab with a gun in your hand

WiggyHD and I built one of those tipper flipper dollies that some guy on here sells plans to. It is overbuilt but it is super awesome!! The flipper plans not only have roller but also arms that you can put in the frame to make it sit still, I found that if the dollie is empty you can put the arms that hold it still in upside down then you have a bed mover rack. Great piece and since I had 7 of these for me and the one for Wiggy HD, We felt it was worth it to build that flipper. I has its second cab on it now that is ready for paint and the third cab to be bolted on. The home made wood ones are fine but like said above I cant drive a nail but burning metal is another story.
