I need another one of these but cant find it in the LMC catalog.
Its the part that latches to the tailgate on the passenger side.

does anyone know if its interchangeable with other years ?

You can see your part in the picture, but it looks like it is not available. It might be called a tailgate striker, looks exactly like the ones on my 76.

Maybe you can weld it?

i haven't found a new replacement for the tailgate strikers anywhere. salvage yard is your best bet

mines 78 looks the same............could a small pull handle (home depot)maybe work like a skinny screen door puller?

The part you seek is called a tailgate latch stryker.
You happen to show a rusty right side part.
I have on in a GM original bag, p/n627484.
I was able to find these at classic parts of america, 1 chevy duty drive, Kansas City MO 64150.
The LH part was $7.50.
the RH part was $19.50.
Law of supply and demand.

The catalog says this part fits 73-82 model year balzer/jimmy.

thanks for that info i really appreciate it. My buddy actually found me a good set off of a 77 blazer at a local junk yard.
