Very nice truck! Will you be changing the mirrors back to sport mirrors?

hotrod 80 11-25-2011 02:42 PM

Re: 1991 ss350

Yes , i have the mirrors and they are gonna be painted also . The previous owner wanted the big ones for his boat so he swapped them .

Seems there is alot of controversy about these trucks . Some say they made them . so say they didn't . Mine came from the original owner and he was an older gentleman . The story i got from him was the emblems on the doors were factory and he drove it off the lot like it is now . I took the stickers off as its going to paint monday . Mine does have the RPO codes listed in the thread link posted . He also told me that he lowered the truck to make it easier to get in and out of .

Went by to take a look at it today and these guys are going a great job . Looks like it will go in paint thursday morning and be ready friday morning . All the guys in the shop were excited about it . Seems they dont often get the chance to do a full base clear job as alot of people just want budget paint over dings and such . Really looking forward to seeing it . Here is a pic update .

Got a couple of dings and dents in there huh? Truck looks good. Hopefull the paint work will turn out as good as the body work. Did they do any work to the cab corners at all?

None , no rust on the truck at all . Mainly door dings on that side due to garage parking . They also stripped the roof and hood due to the factory paint issues of that time . The tauras in the background had just come out of the oven and i was impressed , so im not to worried about the finish . They had 2 other black cars there that i looked at and i was pleased . I do intend to drive this truck and im about 4 miles from the gulf/ Galveston Bay so weak paint is not an option .

well typically i frequent the drag race section with my Luv ,, so im race oriented . I was discussing the motor build with a buddy of mine and my machinist and my buddy had 7 SRP forged 2 relief flat tops . so i bought 1 new one . The block is set to be machined next week . I also had a set of world product torquer S/R's with one bad intake valve . Found out i can modify the 72* center intake bolts and use these with the TBI intake . Should be a nice motor .

I think it looks better then good. Looks almost flawless. Is it just run of the mill black? Or is there like flake or anything in there? Is this going to be daily driven or is it a weekend cruiser?

It is standard black as i was trying to go back factory . It has their top of the line clear coat . I would like to order the the factory graphics forthe billboards/sides and tailgate . Would you be able to get me the factory numbers ?

I originally bought this to use as a daily "beater" to counter the cost of Diesel . My daily now is a ext cab 4 x 4 and it is nice to have a short bed reg cab . It is nimble and easy to manuver . I have been driving the Big Ford for 9 years now and even though im not selling it i am ready for something different now and then . The Luv is more race and weekend . The 49' im afraid to even pull out of the garage . So this will do split duty with the powerstroke .

Re: 1991 ss350

Yeah tomorrow when I'm at work i'll get the numbers for the bed sides.

15606056 DISCON DECAL, END GATE "SPORT" (BLACK) (K, W/BYP)
15607540 DISCON DECAL, END GATE "SPORT" (MED ARGENT) (K, W/BYP)

Those are the tailgate numbers. Unfortunately both are discontinued from GM.

15606057 17.507 DECAL, PICKUP BOX SIDE RR (C W/BYP) (MED ARGENT) (2 REQD)
15606059 17.507 DECAL, PICKUP BOX SIDE RR (C W/BYP) (LT ARGENT) (2 REQD)

Those are the bedside numbers, which are still available from GM. Hope this helps!

Sorry work has been busy . Got it back from the paint and added 2 new front brake hoses , pads and rotors .Bleed the brakes with vavoline 3/4 synthetic . Added 4 new 235/75/15 Bridgestones . Went salvage yard hunting and dug up a factory air breather with air inlet hoses . Here are some pics of it ,, crappy cell pics at night .
