2 to make 1.... '84 2wd + '93 4wd

Didn't find any info on this - so........
My son & I (his truck, MY bucks!) have an '84 S10 2wd. "We" are buying a '93 S15 4wd. The hope is to be able to end up with a start/run/drive 4x4.
BOTH vehicles have their issues, so a frame or cab or both swap may be necessary. Any input is GREATLY appreciated!
Also, is the '93 dash able to be removed and installed in the '84?
Thanks in advance everyone.

Re: 2 to make 1.... '84 2wd + '93 4wd

you'll have to use the 4x4 frame if you want a 4x4. the 2wd frame will work if your doing a solid axle, but it's kinda flimsy. we quit doing 2wd to 4wd conversions down here because they have a bad habit of cracking. the ifs offered in the s and t series trucks was crap so i do suggest an solid axle swap if you plan on lifting it more than a couple of inches(search sas on google) the 4x4s also have a wider wheel base so suspension, brakes, drivelines, ect wont swap over, but the bodys are completely interchangeable. the dash is interchangeable up to 93 in the jimmy and blazer and 93 in the p/u. it would be better to use the 93 and just swap vins. the 93 should have the 190hp vortec(93 was the TRUE 90* vortec v6) as opposed to the 60* 90-125hp 2.8(i believe the 4x4s came with the 125)

s-truck are cheap and reliable. the disadvantage is a narrow wheel base, weak trans-axle and the inability to change the pinion angle for big lifts. you had to drop the trans-axle then compensate by lowering the transfer case 2" and even then you couldn't go more than 6" before putting the drive-line in a bind.
