Brake Upgrade Quetion
 

I am in the parts gathering and budget making part of my front disc conversion on my 69 GMC and had a few quick question about boosters and master cylinders. I did some searching and could not find a solid yes or no answer, just an ocean of grey, so thanks in advanced for any help.

I currently have a 69 GMC I am upgrading to discs and I have a 72 parts truck I can take from. The GMC already has a booster and it works awesome, so can I just take the 69 master and distribution block off the booster and bolt up the 72 master and prop valve to the 69 booster? If so, are there any adjustments I would need to make for it work? Do I need to or should I swap out brake lines; fronts, rear or both?

Can anyone give me a simple yes or no? I just want some piece of mind when I do it that I dont need any other parts.

So your drum brakes work fine on the 69, but you're wanting to convert to disc from the 72? Is that right? I'm not sure what condition your brake lines are in, but if all else is good, you should be able to just switch the master and prop valve, hook it up and bleed the system. I'm not 100% certain the brake line sizes are the same, so you might have an issue connecting the existing brake lines to the prop valve. As for the booster and MC working together, that shouldn't be an issue. I believe the only thing you might have problems with is the push rod length, assuming one is manual and the other is power brakes. If they are both power brakes, they should swap just fine.

Please keep in mind that I haven't done this exact swap, so I may not be right. But the booster is the same for 67 to 72 so theoretically it should work without incident. Check this out:

According to Summit and A1 Cardone the booster is the same for 67-72 C/10's.

Yes, 69 breaks work good and I want to upgrade to the 72 discs. All the lines and hardware that i would use have passed my rigorous visual inspection Thanks for the help and the research you did. I didn't think to look it up through summit like that. Every bit of info I find out brings me 1 step closer to the answer confirming what you and I have both deducted. I was just hoping someone would have done this and put all of my concerns to rest. Thanks again!
