Not my cup of tea... Opinions?

Saw this in the background of south beach classics on velocity tonight. Idk who is going to purchase this especially at this price. From what I can tell they have say on it for a while. What do y'all think? http://www.sobeclassics.com/1959-che...om--c-1591.htm

custom means different things to different people and the guy who built it knew what he wanted.

and at least its driving around and not a forever project someone will eventually get around too. as far as who will buy it, my friend the car salesman always says "there is a butt for every seat".

Re: Not my cup of tea... Opinions?

Most of the "custom" stuff seems quick and dirty. Very little of the stuff that really takes time, IMO. Pretty generic small block which doesn't lend to the drive train being any better. No really good pics of drive train or interior detail. I don't see that price but you're right, it is finished and there were/are times when I didn't think my project would ever get there.

Not my taste and it does appear to be done on the "quick and dirty" But it's not that far out of line. Car dealers got to start some where and they usually don't start low. At least it's painted and not all rusty.

Not sure what the OP's reason for posting it is/was but I don't see the advantage in paying that much money for a truck that you don't like too many things on and then plan to redo it.

It's one thing to buy a rig that while it has a few things you don't like it has a lot of good features and the price is right. I'd think for 32K a guy could buy a pretty decent project truck and do it his way pretty well as long as he didn't go overboard on spendy pieces.

"as long as he didn't go overboard on spendy pieces."

When does that ever happen?

was this posted just to trash this guys truck?
i see a running driving classic truck with new paint, isn't that what we all strive for on this forum?
i can appreciate stock to full custom, mild to wild, but as most of you know i prefer the conservative look :D

Not very often but while you or I would probably buy a tired engine and build it ourselves or get a really good used engine only a crate engine with all the trinkets is good enough for some guys.

Where I would probably go with steelies and white walls. Other guys are going to go for the latest billet big rims with matching tires at around 1000 a corner on the truck and then worry about them being "out of date" before the truck hits the street.

We all do things a bit different and have different views on how things should be done. As long as we are building trucks that are safe to drive on the roads with no cobbled together pieces that may cause safety issues and not telling others to just cobble things together "because you don't need to do that fancy stuff the other guys say to do" to build a safe truck it's all well and good.

Re: Not my cup of tea... Opinions?

No hating here just wanted to see if anyone else had a taste for this. hell, i wish i was that far along with my build:lol: truthfully the only thing that bothers me is the price. that seems ridiculously high for what you get. i get the custom label but thats why i brought it here, just thought id see what y'all had to say.

I saw that on TV last night....eh

Re: Not my cup of tea... Opinions?

My thinking is the builder didn't like it all that much since he/she sold it to those people and I'll bet they don't have any more than $12-15K in it. A good buyer could probably get it for $20K or so. IMO, it really only needs a decent semi-stock grille in it to be reasonable. The grille is a little too much "horny Mike for me.

exactly, and very succinct I might add. these days there is no shortage of guys judging finished rides with what they intend to do to theirs.

the builder may have not been the owner, I worked for a guy that carried a car and had someone else build it, by the time it was done he had more than the price on that truck. It was nice but it wasn't a show piece, I didn't see where the money went, well in the builders pocket lol.
