PTC Air line fittings & leaks advice
 

I purchased the rear bag setup from another board member who said there was a fitting leak down problem so went to local speed shop I replaced the brass Schrader valve with the 90 and a coupler and a new valve pic 1 . It leaked down over night I soap tested i tightened all the fittings cut a 1/4 inch off the airline made the cut as straight as possible and its still leaking now only from where the air line goes into quick connect suggestions / advice please

Make sure you are using DOT approved PTC fittings, if not you are going to be fighting an uphill battle.

If you cut the line straight and its still leaking that bad I would say the fitting is toast/junk and need to be replaced with a DOT fitting. Even if that particular fitting was a DOT fitting the O-ring could worn or damaged, causing the leak(unlikely being as it is new). I checked the Vibrant website and did not see anything labeled DOT approved so I'm going to assume they are not.

Cuts need to be straight and free from burrs.

I have some DOT fittings and some no-name fittings on a bagged truck of mine and the non-DOT fittings always leak.

Also make sure the lines are pushed all the way into the fittings. I know sometimes they feel like they have seated but then if you pull back, then push them in again you will feel the line move a little more into the fitting and seat.

What did you cut the line with tho?If you didn't use a air line cutter its hard to cut it 100& straight and that matters to the fittings,If you dont have a air line cutter its 20 bucks.

I took a peek in the garage this morning visual is ...no leak down I will check air pressure & soap test when I get back from my appointment , I did give,The line an extra push in last night thanks for all the in put ....I will go and find DOT fittings for all the reasons mentioned above if I had done some research in the beginning �� oh well ....Sr. stupidity and still no patience ....@this age ....thanks again I will take the advice and resolve this

Can you use a typical air line cutter u use for copper tubbing I probley have 3 of those ??

I've had a few leak between the colored collar of the ptc part and where it meets the actual body of the fitting. Never had a problem using just a razor blade.
