soft tops

Ok, I hate having to remove my hard top, that is why I have a garage now. In the summer I also hate having to worry about rain. I know that there is not a leak proof top but I was just wondering every ones experience with soft tops. I had one on my first blazer but did not install it as well as I should have so it leaked pretty bad at the back tailgate and front windshield. Listed below are the two different manufactuers that I found.

I think I heard the besttop tiger top isn't available yet. I'm not sure about that though. I've heard both positive and negative things about the STC Fastrack. I have been waiting to hear how folks like the Besttop, but like I said above. Most reviews on the fasttrac have been poitive. I believe there were complaints about the instructions, but as far as leaking goes they seem to hold out water about as good as the hardtop. I live close to Turner 4x4 and I'll go get one and try it out, but I'll need you to send me about $600.:)

I'm sure some folks on this board can give you some first hand reviews on the fastrack. I'm glad you made the post. I'm interested in peoples thoughts about these softtops too.

72beast just a couple of questions.
1. Did the top tighten up a little after installing it?
2. How does it work when you just roll up the sides?
3. There was no drilling into the body right?
4. Have you been rained on yet?

I think that is all I have for now.

1- The top was not hooked down in the back on the one pic of the rear. When its hot out its a little loose and when it cools off it get tight all around, it has an adjustment to deal with these issue.
2- The sides and the back unzip off and have a bag to put them into, the back has straps so you can roll it up.
3- Had to drill 3/16" holes into the top drip-rail and the same into the tailgate, I would get one of those tailgate top protector rails if I ever want to cover it up. On the sides you use the top hold down holes.
4- I live in So Cal...what rain?
LOL...I just went through some last weekend and had no problems...

I wonder if the denim fabric doesn't expand as much due to heat. I really don't want to drill holes but we will see. As far the the tailgate goes. I thought about taking it to a auto upholsterer and having velcro sewn on the the back instead of of using the snaps.

there are only 6 snaps that will be installed, they will be on the sides of the drip rail, the rest of the top is tucked into an alum rail that is screwed to the truck...I don't know how to upload pic's on this site, if I did I would take a pic and upload it for you...

I have the old Kayline top (Now http://www.specialtytopco.com/) I like it. I have some leaking around the side windows. I think most of it is because I need new window tracks so they tend to move a lot. Mine is the button down style. I didn't install it, it was on when I bought the truck but I haven't put the hard top on yet.

I got my top from speciality tops and I really like it. Its the old kayline design
