Aluminum slider repair? Weld or filler?

I have what appears to be an original OEM rear slider. It -looks- like it's aluminum, but I haven't tested it or struck arc on it or anything.

It's chewed up a little in a few places where I couldn't just sand and buff it out, it would need to be built up a little.

My question is how to go about it (yes, pics would help I'm sure but its not nearby at the moment)? I could try to build the little area up with a TIG welder, or I could use some kind of filler. I have a feeling it's going to wind up painted aluminum finish, not natural, anyway.

Thoughts?

If it didn't cost so much to ship, I have two rear window sliders I'm not going to use.....you can have them if you want.....
