Shipping Charges

I am trying to find the best and cheapest shipping for 2 bare 1960 C-10 doors from Phoenix, Az to Kalkaska, Mi. Anyone have some pointers who to use for these larger items. Each door is 42"X8"X52" and will weigh about 45 pounds with packaging. I plan on using carpet underlayment pad on the face side of the door with clear shrink wrap. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So far I have an approximate quote from Greyhound X-Press of $200 for both doors, that is with a little extra insurance because the doors just came out of the body shop. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Clyde65. I appreciate it it Sir. I couldn't believe some of the quotes from FedEx which I usually use for smaller items. I guess size does matter.

I would strongly suggest making a wooden crate for them especially since you had the bodywork done

I heard about this but have never used them. They pick up & deliver at Waffle Houses around the country.

I would check with some truck lines (freight)LTL and freight forwarders. I would crate both doors if they just come out of the body shop. and only truck lines that go to both places. if one has to change carriers somewhere . that is where they ding you

Fastenal. They offer 3rd party shipping, their trucks run the entire country, there's usually one most everywhere, and rates are low.

I appreciate the feedback. I have shipped Greyhound before but their terminal is about an hour from me. Looks like Fastenal has an outlet about 10 minutes from me. Worth a try to see what their rates are. Thanks all.
