Nicely optioned cheyenne 20 i picked up

Sister In law saw this along side the road for sale and called to let me know. Needless to say, it has a new home. Kind of an odd combination with the BB/4speed, but manual steering. And yes that is a 2bbl carb under there. Seems to run and drive pretty good. It has rust, but not real bad for MN standards. I think the dually will have to go...
Enjoy

Very nice truck! Was the rear end swapped onto the original frame or the entire frame swapped out?

I guess he could not find PS brackets for that BB when the original engine was swapped out.

I think they just added the dually rear end.
You don't think the engine is original?

MMmm a 556 paint truck with buckets too, very nice.
I'd punt the DRW stuff also :) Would be very nice restored.
Have the engine stamping number from the front pad? Or the casting code?

I like it as is as an example of how things were done along the way. I would leave it as is till it actually got a proper restoration back to the wonderful truck it was as original. It has it's own appeal now as is. Quite a conversation piece.

L47 on the SPID is 400 big block; at least mine came that way from the factory. As for the two-barrel, are you sure? Mine has a Q-Jet. If it really is a 454, the ID on the engine will be different.

Also, 2-jet Rochesters could be found on big block engines, so if the engine is a 454, it probably came that way, and was installed as a complete assembly.

And, yes, that is a nicely optioned truck!

Is under hood green different than exterior\interior green?

Looks like TKA on the pad.

It would be a nice one to bring back to its original glory.

Yes it is a 2bbl, no reason to think it is a 454.

Under hood is still the original color. It had a color change many years ago it appears.

TKA, 1971-72 Big Block 402. I would guess the carb has been changed which gained nothing.

My bad, I have no idea where my thought that it had a 454 came from. Must have been the mushrooms on my salad yesterday.

Neat truck and one of the better looking dually conversions I have seen.

It has manual steering, tilt wheel, am radio and sliding back glass, no a/c, 2 brl big block, CST, Cheyenne trim, camper wiring, tool box. No wheel and tire size listed. Strange combo indeed.

I would think the carb/intake was changed out, but is there a chance it is original yet?

Pretty good hack job behind the flares.

Along with tach and buckets...

Wow, Nice score Eric!

The 2BBL setup is definitely not original to the truck, it was only available in 1969 on full size Chevys as option L66 a 265HP 396.

They were a tire smoking torque engine that got decent gas mileage, (I had one in a 69 Impala wagon that actually achieved 16mpg) If you haven't driven it much give it a whirl it might really surprise you.

Wanna sell it? Lol. Awesome truck that deserves a proper resto. What an option list

Thanks for the info. The little bit I did drive it seemed plenty "torquey", but without knowing the rear gears in the dually, I assumed it may have been that.

Money talks. Would be nice to see a proper resto on it.

Were P/B standard or added later? It seems to me that someone messed up when they ordered it without P/S- why pay for all the other goodies, but not get the basics? Nice truck- hope it gets restored

Leave it dually! I like it, for oddity's sake if nothing else! Cool score...

I'd remove the DRW and restore that thing to 100% bone stock. It's a very nicely optioned camper rig!

Or keep the DRW and do a sympathetic cleanup on it, but the way it's optioned... tilt, tach, slider, toolbox, the works!

Re: Nicely optioned cheyenne 20 i picked up

If it's a clean DRW conversion, would it have been done by a RV outfitter. I have only seen one truck this body style with fenders like that, and it was probably 30 years ago.
