Rust under fuel tank

Has anyone ever dealt with pitted rust under the gas tank mount brackets?

Re: Rust under fuel tank
Unless you have a grit blaster to get it bare metal, the third best is if you use an acid type product to eat the rust away. Those products are listed in this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=750885
Of course then you have to prep and top coat. |
Re: Rust under fuel tank
That seems like a strange place for it to rust (admittedly I've only ever removed one set of these and if I didn't find rust on that truck it would have been shocking). Did the rear window leak and keep it wet possibly?

Re: Rust under fuel tank
Previous owner sandblasted cab and left sand in truck so it rusted under there. I would have never known if i didn’t pull brackets I’m glad I did

Way off topic, I just saw your location, did you go to the Moutrie swap meet this year? I foolishly put work ahead of play this year and didn't get to go. |
Re: Rust under fuel tank
I didn’t go. I had to focus on tree removal from the last hurricane. But it will be here in feb and this summer so I’ll be ready
