Mounting P01 on rally wheels
1 Attachment(s)
Recently one of my rally wheel caps fell off and is probably lying by the side of hwy 101. A forum member responded to a WTB with an offerto sell a set of four at a fair price. It occurred to me that this might be a good time to restore my truck to the wheel covers it came with. I found these on eBay

You bet that's all there is to it provided your rallys are 15" wheels.

Well here is one that I put on temporarily. I noticed there is a small amount of the wheel that is exposed. In other words, the hub cap doesn't cover the entire wheel. Is this normal? There is probably nothing I can do about the balancing weight either? The old rally trim rings hid them.
At the very least, I need to at least clean off all that grime before putting them on for good. I suppose a purist would remove the tires and have the wheels media blasted and powder coated. Is it possible to paint that small area without removing the tires or will the paint just scrap off in short order. thanks, Rob |

Looks good!
When they are polished up they really show well. What helps immensely is repainting 'the wheel rim in that exposed area...either a temporary 'strip', which is the part you see.... or all of the rims fully removed to have them powder coated. If you take some time to prep, clean and prime the rims (or the strip area) while on the wheels they turn out very well if you hit them them with a nice gloss white from a rattle can. Just make sure do either do some good masking of the rubber or make a stencil to fit the curvature. Either way...looks great. Coley |
