So I have been working on getting this blazer for almost 2 years now. At first the PO didn't want to sell it. He had plans of turning it into his "hunting rig". I cringed when I heard that, most hunting rigs live a hard life and end up crunched and smashed. Well it sat for another year and I recently decided to get a hold of him and give him another offer. This time he was ready to sell ( and sell it cheap!)and I couldn't get the cash out of the bank fast enough. He bought this blazer back in 1983 and told me he was the coolest guy in school when he drove it. It was born as a medium blue CST Cheyenne ac cab with a single wall top. I think he was just like any other high school kid with a capable 4x4, he took it in the mud a lot. He said he had it painted and rust repair done in 1988 but the persistent rust has come back. Everything looks solid except behind the doors and the rockers. I pulled up the carpet and surprisingly the floors are solid and no rust holes. The engine has not been run in 15 years, but he claims it had a new engine installed 30k miles ago. We all know how that goes......I will be pulling the plugs and squirting some marvel mystery oil down the cylinders.

Plans are undecided right now. Most likely I will do some routine maintenance and get this thing back on the road and enjoy it for a while.

I wouldn’t be surprised it would run. I bought a chevelle a few years back that had been sitting for years. Got it home and flushed everything, cleaned the carb and it fired right up. I sold the engine for what I paid for the car.

Great save. Please post more pics when possible. Would love to see more detailed shots of the engine and engine compartment. I'm curious about the routing of the the TCS harness.

Thanks everyone! I saved another 72 Blazer earlier this year with only 90k miles. The original owner passed and sold it to the gentleman i bought it from. It had a great back story and from what i'm told, the engine has never been out!!! It still has the original hoses, clamps and all of the little things that seem to disappear over the years. I Think it is as close to original as you can get. I will get pictures of the engine compartment tonight and post them tomorrow. Let me know what specific pictures you want and i will do my best to get them.

Wow - would love to see pics of the survivor too. I like to see any detail pics folks can provide as regards factory placement for things like hoses, clips, clamps, screws. It's a helpful comtribution for others who want to restore these trucks back to original.

This blazer looks a lot like my blue 72 did when I got my hands on it (pics on thread linked in my signature below).

Yeah I have been following your build, I was actually blown away when i popped the hood of the survivor. It was bought new in Glenwood springs colorado and never left. It was the ol boys plow truck for his property and man it didnt have a straight panel on it (in the process of replacing everything, lucking almost no rust). He maintained it well and it still runs very well.

Pete - I got a few pictures but I'm not sure they are what you are looking for.... Its pretty hard to see the TCS wiring. I threw a couple extras of all the plastic "zip ties" and the factory upper hose and how good the factory clamps are.

Great photos. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a sold survivor! Note the engine paint on the cap in the LH valve cover. Thanks for the zip tie pic. I'd like a thread dedicated to zip tie locations.

Sorry the console is not for sale, but there is plenty of them on ebay for pretty cheap.

That's awesome. I bet it starts up too. Do what you said, pull the plugs, shoot some juice down the cylinders and heads and crank her. I bought a 73 dually not too long ago and did that. Sat since 2005 in the weeds. fired right up without any issues and still running without ANY adjustments.
