Firewall Mount Power Brake Kit

1 Attachment(s)
All,

I have a 53 3100 with a S10 frame & 5.3 and want power brakes. I found this kit from Performance Online (POL) on Ebay, has anyone here used or seen one installed? It seems to work well for my setup because it moves the booster/master out of the way of the engine.

My main concern is I need room for my clutch/master.

Thoughts?

I have a pol kit But for a different year (65). I can say mine was easy and fit with minor installation stuff. I had to drill holes and modify pedal link but that could've been just my year model stuff. It was easy anyway. It seems to work like it's supposed to and was reasonably affordable. These guys aren't the fastest delivery and the customer service can be average but all in all for my situation it worked out well. After the fact I wish i had a much bigger budget and had fancy brakes lol. Would be cool/nice to have willwood stuff right but for what it is it works good and fits like it should. I am not an expert by the way just an enthusiast. So I'd say for me it was a easy install and a functioning system. I "think" there could be a better vendor perhaps with the same exact parts? That sounds kinda bad but I am still waiting to find a company that's fun to buy stuff from. Hope this helps

Thanks, that is good stuff to know. I have been spoiled by Summit and their great return policy so being aware of POL is good stuff. Right now I an looking at functionality and reliability - within a reasonable budget.

I just hope I have room for the clutch, I'll have to do some more googling.

We did a 51 advance design with a S10 frame using Code 504 s10 chassis brackets. Used the exact same POL brake booster on it. We installed a 6.0 LS from 2005 pickup. did not use manual trans, went 4l80e. The POL kit was very easy to install, only had to drill 6 holes to mount, 4 in the fire wall and 2 in the dash to support the front of the pedal assembly. On a side note, did have to open up some of the mounting holes in the dash area of the bracket to mount the aftermarket column drop, we used a IDIDIT column and no name swap meet special column drop bracket.

I think it would work great except for the clutch part. I think it moves the booster over too much to the drivers side even to use a reverse mount pedal.

I would call these guys:
http://www.waltonfabrication.com/1919chtr40.html

They should be able to answer your question better than POL and it's a few $ less.

That kinda funny, I came across Walton Fab yesterday and was going to give them a call Monday.

There is some way to do it, I just have to find the right combination of parts and ingenuity. The kicker is finding those parts on eBay or other places than Summit makes it harder to return them, and shipping cost or being stuck with something that wont work is not helpful.

If you need to borrow my bracket like this to test fit let me know. My truck is torn apart for paint right now.

Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on it. The more I look, the more I find getting more universal parts & modifying/creating mounts & brackets might be the best path.

But who knows, I've flipped on this a couple times so far.

How about hydroboost? Compact and powerful. If so you will need a hydroboost specific fitting that screws into the back of the power steering pump, it has a larger hole, or drill your non hydroboost fitting, and i did a hydroboost pump tank because it has one more return line.

You may want to look at http://www.kugelkomponents.com/zenca...=index&cPath=4

They have several different designs that could work.

I picked up a GM van pedal assembly awhile back with the
Master and Hydroboost for $30 at the U-pull.

Before that, I had a Jeep TJ clutch and pedal assembly.

Either one looks like it would work for what you're wanting.
