1968 C20 8 lug front drum to front disc conversion
 

Does anyone have experience converting the 1968 C20 front 8 lug drum brake setup to disc brakes? I'm wondering if there is a chevrolet steering knuckle that uses an 8 lug disc that will work with the stock 1968 C20 ball joints. If there are other options that will work, I'm interested in hearing about them. Thanks for your help.

I did my 69 c20 with a kit from performance online.

Scarebird has a setup that uses your old spindles, IIRC. That would eliminate a lot of parts changing. I used POL but they ship stuff that gets damaged from poor packaging and won't reimburse you if parts are damaged or missing.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to find a solution with chevy C20 parts from a later model C20 rather than aftermarket... even though aftermarket options aren't out of the question. Thanks again.

I used everything from a '76 C30 - single rear wheel, for my '67.
I brought home everything, including cross member and brake lines, but mixed and matched pieces I used. Truck had a big-block so I kept my springs. I kept my cross member, but swapped A-arms. Later cross member had a brace(s) inside the frame rails which I added to my cross member.
A brake line coupler, separates from rear brake line, under pass side frame rail. Used all brake lines from there forward to MC, which then places brake Combo-valve under radiator.
Holes for brake flex lines were already in frame, but had to be enlarged. Plenty of examples on this forum of guys retaining the brake lines on the cross member under the engine and the various problem they ran into finding brake flex lines that don't get pinched or stretched. They end up with brake lines that don't fit their year truck or the year they got the spindles from.
Using all the brake lines and suspension/spindles from a single year makes it easier to get replacement parts later on. Aftermarket parts that fit part of the older year and some newer year pieces, just complicates the whole mess.

When I said I mixed and matched '67 with '76 parts, the cross member for example had forged steel frame rail horns and the '76 had lighter pressed steel pieces. All flaps replacement parts will be for '76.

My neighbor has a '73 square body and he said when he had one of our trucks he bought the front axle off a junkyard from a square body and it bolted right in. I haven't verified this with the board here, but if that's the case that's probably what I'll do when I get to that point.
