Grill change

On the gen. 4 trucks, Is it possible to interchange the GMC grill for the Silverado grill (1997). If possible is it a simple unbolt and swap or more complicated.? thanks guys

You didn’t mention if you’re staying within the same years. If you’re going 97 GMC to 97 Chevy, all you’ll need is grill and side markers. If you’re going from an earlier GMC to later model Chevy, then more is required.

take a look at LMC, they offered a conversion kit.

if you go to the build threads...PROJECT WIDE BODY is my truck, it has the conversion ( but i did locate a factory GMC surround as the one i recieved was wide at the fenders).

mine is an 89 with the single square headlight, converted to the 96-up.

Thanks for the info guys. I usually hang out in the 67-72 forums and just getting started playing with the gen 4 trucks. I'm finding the members here are every bit as helpful as the members in the 67-72 forums.
As for the grill change, it would be from within the gen 4 years. I'm not real big on changing the exterior of the truck (much)! Ive got a Classic parts cat. for gen 4, but not one from LMC yet. All good to know.

If you are going to use an earlier 88-93 grill, you’ll need the lower grill valence and side markers from that year. My truck is a 1997 with the earlier grill.

Gee whiz knowledge when you work with the newer trucks and how they’re referred to sometimes:

1988-1998 = OBS older body style *suv and some of the crewcabs went to 2000

1999-2006 = NBS new body style

2007+ = NNBS new new body style

More than Crewcabs... My 2000 C2500 with the 6.5L is a T400 and the SUVs were T400 chassis til 2001 or so. Similar to the 88-91 RV series squarebody SUV and Pickups.

The GM truck chassis designations leave a little less to the imagination. There were older body style carryovers in every chassis group and some of the T900 SUVs were made a year before the T900 Pickups.
