1970 4x4 burb worth saving?

Few months back i drug an original paint 1970 4x4 4spd 1/2 ton, barn door, uncut dash suburban out of the weeds from a guys backyard.... it is crusty... has no engine and needs basically all the bottoms of the doors and complete floor pan replaced, as well as rockers and rear quarters. So my question is... is it worth saving? I know some die hards will say they all are, im just wondering if the options are enough for me to sink hundreds of hours into it.. its definitely an intimidating challenge. I will post pictures tomorrow, i have to get out there and pressure wash it today.

Looks like a nice K20 not too rusty but you know how that goes..

vin code's a 4x v8 1/2t burb '70 built in Freemont.. fender badge jives..

but looks like 8 lug front n back, axles swapped?

I'm not a barn door fan but they have a fair sized following.. same with 4spd.. I like manual trans for chore work but gets bothersome for lengthy driving..

power steering, three row seats and rv mirrors a big plus.. otherwise fairly plain option list..

can't tell exactly how bad lower rust is but solid blue no trim would still make a good looking driver with decent paint blend or black lower belt, etc.

if the engine wasn't gnawed out by beavers and easily replaced, good opportunity for a crate upgrade.. or maybe even an ls conversion if a lot's missing in the engine room..

good luck!

It is 3/4 ton axle and suspension swapped, the engine bay is completely stripped as well as the wiring, I already have a dirty dingo x-member laying around from a previous build so id probably go that route.. I dont typically drive very far so the 4spd is fun. I only ever build drivers, show quality is too expensive for my taste and i prefer to enjoy my rigs without the worry of door dings. Best part of the rig is that i bought it for 400$, it came stuffed to the roof full of extra parts, which i already sold enough to pay for the burb so with a clean title i basically got it for free! The work is intimidating but i think in the long run it would be worth it for a badass burb.

Well im currently about to break ground on building a 30x36 shop so the burb wont get a whole lot of love till that is complete... I had a feeling most people would suggest i save it, and i agree. It seems to me like the 1/2 ton 4x4s werent very common? i cant find production numbers anywhere, if they even exist for the 70s.

I vote to save it. If nothing else resell it to some one that will restore/fix it and double or triple your money. Jus' my 2 cents.

Shoot me a PM if you decide its too much hassle to deal with. I have a buddy that's looking for a parts burb to use for his build. Might be enough worth saving between the two that will make one really nice one.

My vote is to save it. But when I win the lottery there will be people who will claim I wasted my fortune trying to be like Jay Leno.

i would say, just get it and save it ( depending on the price and if you are interested in it )
throw it to the side ( what is a few more months of sitting till you get to it, its obvious sat a lot longer than that )
once the the project is over ( as the garage is finished ), you can roll it in \

half the time i have noticed, its searching for a project ( near by and at a decent price ), imo
