Windsheild seal
 

I have a '92 and found another windshield but, some of the hard rubber seal around it is cut up, mostly up the top of the glass, is this a replaceable seal? the sides and bottom are in better shape.

I think most of the windshields are glued on, they don't use rubber seals.I pretty sure I know the part/area you mean, but it's been soo long since I replaced one I have forgotten, but I do think that gets replaced when the seat in the new windshield.

Yes it's glued in but there is a harder rubber around it, not like the older type of seal though.

The windshield in that truck has what's called encapsulated glazing. The trim is molded onto the windshield at the glass factory and is not separately replaceable.

The GMT 400 was the very first vehicle with encapsulated glazing. I was at the introduction, and someone asked one of the PPG reps how to replace it (I owned a glass shop at the time). The rep said, "We don't know. We're waiting for you guys to figure it out and tell us."

You can cut a used one out without breaking it, though. You need to cut from the inside and be very patient. Use a long knife and plenty of lubricant - I prefer glass cleaner.

Truckster, do you mean the trim/seal or the windshield itself? I'm thinking, if the bottom is still good to position it then it all should seal up with the glue sealant....

The whole thing needs to come out together if you want it to look correct cosmetically. It's hard but not impossible. However, if you don't care how it looks, you can get it to seal without the trim.

Mine was trashed in my truck. Windshield was original and was also leaking in two places along the top, either side of center. I ended up giving a glass guy in my neighborhood $175 to replace it totally with one of the nicer top-tinted windshields. He sanded and re-epoxied the two spots where leaks were happening. It's incredible how clear the glass was after, one of the best repairs I made on the truck!
